Project launch ELMeKS.digital: Promoting media literacy for teachers in Saxony
At the beginning of May, the project team of the new project “Entry-level solutions for teacher training for media competence development in Saxony with a focus on the fields of social pedagogy, health and care, and physiotherapy (ELMeKS.digital)” heralded the start of the project at the kickoff meeting in the Center of Open Digital Innovation and Participation (CODIP) at the TU Dresden. In a small, relaxed group, the basic project structures were discussed, existing framework conditions were examined, and responsibilities were defined.
The European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) The project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (funding period February 1, 2024 - January 31, 2027) aims to sustainably increase the media competence of teachers at privately run vocational schools in Saxony. ELMeKS.digital is developing a web portal with individual entry and support offers to motivate and support teachers in their own further qualification in digitally supported teaching. The portal offers orientation and instructions for the optimal use of digital media in teaching and refers to existing training and networking offers. A special learning module for inclusive teaching design is also being developed as part of the project. The aim is to improve the quality of teaching at privately run vocational schools in Saxony and to make them more attractive in the competition for qualified teachers.
The project consortium includes the CODIP, TU Dresdenn in the role of project management, the AFBB Academy for Vocational Training gGmbH, the DRK Educational Institute Saxony gGmbH and the Professorship for School Pedagogy with a focus on school research at the TU DresdenThe team plans to conduct focus group interviews with teachers at the participating vocational schools before the start of the summer holidays in order to determine their motivation, activities and support needs for further training in the area of media use in teaching. At the same time, existing support and further training offers will be researched.
