Exploring historical photographs of Dresden in 4D: TU Dresden's online research tool in an exhibition for the first time
A journey through time through Dresden Visitor:en since 16 April in COSMO Scienceenschaftsforum in Dresden There, for the first time, the Center for Open Digital Innovation and Participation (CODIP) the TechnisOnline research tool developed by the University of Dresden 4D Browser presented to the public via a touch screen.
Until now, the tool, which has been jointly developed at the TU Dresden and the University of Würzburg since 2016, was only available in a desktop version. For the exhibition "Futures “Shaping together: Visionary realities” of DST (Departments Speculative Transformation) It was developed in cooperation with the Friedrich Schiller University Jena for a touch screenn application. The tool enables the Visitors, to move through a digital 3D model of the city of Dresden using finger movements and discover historical photographs. These are located in the urban space in which the Photographers With time as the fourth dimension, immersion in the history of Dresdens possible.
The exhibition shows also further Prototypes and applications from various Dresden research institutions on the topic of “Futures It examines how science and research address the challenges of the future and what new and creative solutions they find – be it for climate change, the city of the future or questions relating to mobility and the world of work.
