The LemaS platform – A networking and learning platform for potential-oriented school development in collaboration between research and practice

Last modified date

The project

Given that the promotion of gifted students has increasingly become a focus of educational policy since 2018, a large-scale research and development process revealed the need to systematically consolidate existing knowledge and concepts and make them accessible for school practice. This was the first phase of the federal-state initiative funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). „"Performance Makes School (LemaS)"“Through the collaboration of universities and schools, diverse approaches to fostering potential have been developed, tested, and refined. This has shown that successful talent development depends not only on individual materials, but especially on structured exchange processes, professional support, and sustainable networking.”.

With the transition to the second phase, "LemaS-Transfer," the question of how these findings can be widely transferred and implemented in the long term increasingly came to the fore. A key solution lies in the development of a digital learning platform that serves as a link between research and practice.

The platform

The platform is designed as a Moodle-based infrastructure and aims to provide learning courses, teaching materials and collaborative workspaces in a data protection-compliant environment.

The focus is not simply on providing content, but on supporting collaborative learning and development processes. Integrated exchange formats enable teachers, multipliers, and other stakeholders to work together on topics, share experiences, and further develop concepts.

The platform's development follows a user-centered, iterative approach. Practical requirements are continuously incorporated and integrated into the technical and pedagogical design. This creates a dynamic environment that supports both individual professional development processes and the building of long-term networks.

This is how it continues

In the following sections, key questions arise regarding the design of these transfer processes, the effective integration of digital resources into everyday school life, and the conditions for sustainable use. The platform plays a crucial role here, acting as an interface between scientific knowledge production and its application in schools.

The aim is not only to facilitate knowledge transfer through digital infrastructure, but also to promote a collaborative culture and thus contribute to strengthening the networking of educational processes in the long term.
